Let's Occupy God's Throne Room

Nigeria is destined for greatness and it is no co-incidence that God blessed us with unparallel resources so that we should prosper and be a praise in the whole earth. Yet, the land abounds in poverty and corruption.

I perceive that there is a battle for the soul of Nigeria. There is a plan to kill, to steal and to destroy. To turn this potential economic and spiritual giant to another crippled failed state. A plan to turn brothers against each other and cause instability in the land.

We may not see this clearly now, but in reality we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in high places.

Looking at the recent happenings, including the careless removal of fuel subsidy and the unprecedented security challenges in the North, something seems to be happening that needs our immediate attention. Christians are being gunned down for the simple reason that they decide to go to church and worship God. The security agencies are helpless and don’t know where to start solving the problems at hand. Southerners are leaving the North and Northerners are leaving the south in droves. Corruption abounds and seems to be winning. The cost of living has escalated and people just don’t know where to start.

In the last couple of months, Nigeria has not been the same. Some are proffering that the solution is a break up; or even a return to military rule. The discerning will realize that there is a battle for the soul of Nigeria.

What do we do?

The social media is full of contributions by patriotic Nigerians who are making it clear that the time to be silent is over.

“If Good men are silent, evil prevails in the land.” said Edmund Burke.

And so as the Labour leads the charge for the re-instatement of fuel subsidy. There is also the need for us to take a spiritual step to seek God face for a divine intervention. Today we sit at home. Many see today as a time to rest but I dare say it is also an opportunity for us to pray and seek God’s mighty hand to heal our land.

God said, “If my people who are called by my name shall humble themselves and pray, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and heal Nigeria.

Many years ago, God prompted me to pray about the security situation in Lagos but I was too busy. Shortly after I was attacked by robbers. When I asked God why, I heard him say, “Now that it has touched you will you pray.”

Our homes may be safe now but this is the time to pray and not wait until it touches us.

As our brothers and sisters OCCUPY Nigeria for the change that we seek. Let those at home also OCCUPY the throne room of God for the greater power for a Change in our country as a whole. And he is not averse to us doing so, because He said….

“Come boldly before my throne of grace that you may obtain Mercy and find grace for help in time of need.

So let us do something practical today and let us take an action. Everyday of the strike, let us put sleep aside; switch off the TV; take a break from facebook; call our neighbours together; occupy God’s throne room and pray.

Maybe you have heard of the Kenyan experience decades ago, when a group of intercessors in a teacher training school suddenly had a vision of furious red horses galloping towards their country. Intercepted by timely prayers, however, the horses diverted from the border of Kenya into Somalia next door. Somalia has not been a normal country ever since.

Let's Occupy God's Throne room

I too believe that only God's intervention can deliver us. The problem is too complicated to be solved by humans alone.
Thanks for the making the call to prayer.
