JAPAN ON OUR HEARTS

The stories and video clips are heart rending to say the least. Japan went to bed one night as comfortable citizens and woke up the next, with death staring them in the face and on their heels as they fled. So utterly terrifying! And the terror has not let up yet – aftershocks; nuclear leaks; lack of food, water and fuel follows.

The hopelessness and the sadness the people must be feeling now is unimaginable. Research shows that less than 2% of the population is Christian. And that statistic makes the burden even heavier.

Catastrophes, tribulations and challenges of varying degrees occur from time to time. There are many who when faced with such trying times have God as an anchor; a burden bearer, a comforter. They are able to turn to him and find hope and comfort that passes understanding.

But how does a person who doesn’t know God cope through all this? How do you catch some sleep when your heart is intensely heavy beyond compare? How do you cope when you can’t think beyond the now?

Japan is a wealthy nation, and has been able to build an admirable self sufficiency into their systems. Now the people are scared and barely know where to turn. Many have lost everything. Too many are searching for loved ones.

The world has gracefully risen up to the occasion to help. But God is able to restore and to comfort in a way that the world can never do.

So for those who know how, let us pray. For every ten minutes we spend watching the news; lets spend another ten praying for the people of Japan. Let us pray for the man, the woman and the young ones who in many ways are just like us.

That in all this they will find and connect with Jesus the lover of our souls. That they will find salvation in the finished work of Christ. That the Holy Spirit will sweep through the land and comfort those heavy hearts.

If you know how to pray, then Japan needs you now!!!

O Lord, the creator of all men - Have Mercy and touch the land of Japan for your good. Still the hand of the destroyer and freely release your gift of peace.

John 10:10 – The thief cometh not but to steal, to kill and to destroy but Jesus has come that we may have life and have it more abundantly.

This was soothing to read. :) I had spent most days just crying and wondering how and why such a thing had happened to a small Island, Japan. But then after reading this I all of a sudden felt really calm. I know that everything is in God's hands and that we are not to question him, but let him be in control.

I can't imagine what Japan is going through now, but I can only hope that they will find the strength they need in Jesus, and only also hope that as many as possible will turn to him for answers.

It's mostly sad for those souls which are already lost :(.. .
